Making a dash(board) for freedom

From the Echo, first published Tuesday 27th Jul 2004.

A MISCHIEVOUS hamster was back behind bars after escaping from its cage and spending two days in hiding under the dashboard of a car.

Linda Neal, 31, of Wimborne Road, in Ferndown, bought the furry escape artist named Lucky as a gift for her youngest daughter Sophie, 10.

Mrs Neal's husband Lee, 45, a gardener, feared he would have to hire a mechanic to rip off the dashboard of the Fiat Punto after the family spent hours failing to coax the fugitive hamster into the open, after it escaped.

But the lure of a piece of juicy apple proved too much for the cheeky hamster.
