Bite-sized artwork...

From the archive, first published Monday 12th Sep 2005.

WITH her recurring images of cakes, confectionary and cats, along with a regular cast of characters, Sarah Jane Szikora is an artist with a mission. (Oct 1)

A mission to amuse but also to take a quirky look at issues like size and gender.

Now, after much demand from galleries and collectors alike, she is staging her first one-woman show with a collection of colourful paintings that explore her offbeat imaginary world.

The exhibition, called Infatuation, will begin a two-week run at the Westover Gallery in Bournemouth on Saturday and Sarah will be present at the opening - her only appearance in south-west England.

The opening takes place between 2pm and 5pm and the gallery say they will be marking the occasion by serving "cakes, candy and all things pink".

The show will be open 9am to 6pm Mondays to Saturdays and from 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
